When you first time install a Zen Cart your website is looking not quite apple. To make your zencart (online shop) to represent your company / personality you may follow the following steps.
1. Choose e template (if you consider). It is not mandatory but it may help you to save time with boring stuff. When you choose consider a few directions:
- Do not be too complex so you will be able to control/change it as much as you like. How complex can be, it depends of your ability in php/html/JavaScript/css coding. If you have not too much in common with coding then do not install any template, leave and change the default one.
- Be tableless, no table on top of what ZEncart has. Anyway finally you must replace (have replaced by a coder) all tables with tags compatible with HTML5. This is capital if you target first page in search engines with your website. If this is not your concern, do not bather, leave it as it is, it is stable and easy to manage.
- Be stretchable. It is not mandatory but now days wide screens are very common and just imagine how will look your website 800px wide on a screen 1920 (Full HD), the most common size on most of the standard displays and digital TV. It looks absolutely ugly, a vertical stripe in the middle of the screen.
