The beset way to have something properly is to keep it simple. When it is about light box we as developers, found that the best is fancy light box plugin.
We did implement it in a couple of websites, the last one is a photography studio website where will require a bit more customisation / development because of the client request. The fact that is done in a very simple and solid way (as programmimg) allow as to do with it whatever any of our clinets cam imagine. I just compare this one with well known and complex gallery plugins for wordpress. Please have a look and watch A moment in Time Photography
Just to make sue that the message I am trying to sent will be received correct:
If you are not programmer and you cannot change php/html/javascript code this plugin can be used out of box but it will never replace a gallery plugin (big and complex) so just chose exectly what you need at a point of time but accept the fact that you willwait aftre developers of that plugin and you will pay pretty big money for any change you will reqest. More complex the system you ask to be changed is the more money you will pay and the result … it based o your luck and how you choose your developers.
We always keep it simple, and all we are doing is scalable and rock. On top we havy relay on open source comunit, OLALA is using WordPress lats build and build on it.
