There are two way of being present on the Net:
a) as part of one or more social networks where you can really spend a good time. You may play; watch movie, chat or just browsing here and there.
b) as owner of a website.
I will try to tell about what you may not consider initially when you are thinking to have your first website or to revamp an existing one.
- Try do not make assumptions that your design company / freelancer know exactly what is in your mind. Write done all you wish to have and order all you can afford.
- Keep everything open to improvements and ask them (your service provider) to give you the best possible option on the market
- Think serious about the initial content of your website; who is going to insert it. Having a content management System like Zen Cart, Word Press, and Made Simple does not always mean that anyone can insert content and the website will be OK. Problems which generate this “no sense” can be: Pages are very complex, contain flash elements or module/ plug-in, need to be coherent from point of view of Search engine optimisation.
- Consider that the website content must be inserted on regular basis.
Nowadays to have a website / to be present on the Net means you are going in competition for ever with many others like you. Even if in all major area there are huge web systems already in place anytime you can get a good visibility and revenue if all you are doing is setup properly.
In most of cases a website is not anymore only an extension of the company activity. More and more often a website is or it is targeting to be the central point of the company activity. All is very relative but … look around and try to understand this new world where you are living. It is changing very fast and all of us have two choices only: to adapt or to die. There is nothing in between.
