Social networks can help you as business for real if you know how to use them. Our problems as professional marketers is “HOW TO MAKE OUR CLIENTS TO MAKE MONEY and NOT HOW TO SPEND MONEY PAYING US ONLY?
A few days ago I saw an advertisement: “We sell Facebook contacts”. I thought “Yep, a new way to make easy money. So you as business, buy contacts, send emails (spam) and usually 2% – 5% may be your customers. Simple like that but this has no relation with social network.
Last week, talking with one client (relax, no stress, just talking) He is doing research by his own about twitter and Facebook and he told us a bit disappointed that he put on twitter serious topics and “stupid” twits as well. He got lots of comments for “stupid” area and 0% feedback for serious one. He is a very smart guy with two uni and 25y+ years of experience as consultant. Joking (but not too much) he named Facebook: “I like your cake” and twitter: “I am so bored, two more hours and go home.”
However there are three basic rules which can make you a success on any social networks:
1. create a good public profile
2. be a good listener
3. go there on regular basis, write from time to time jokes or easy to digest news and do not forget to comment on your connections posts.
After a while you will be amazed to see that many will consider you their friend not only their connection and from that point be sure they will contact you as professional asking for your products and services because they “know” you.
Business means first of all human connections, the Net is just a tool, very important but nothing more than a tool used by humans.
