Microsoft bought Skype

One of my clients, who just moved from (local) Exchange platform to Google Business platform (paid), told me today with sorrow in his voice that Microsoft bought Skype.

Microsoft has almost all Google have at this point including online email and documents but Microsoft has as usual a big problem as well.

I have account on Microsoft (all I can have as free service). I am not using it as I am using Google platform because it requires too much resources and it DOES NOT ACCEPT to import all my emails from Gmail (Gmail not business). Why? The single explanation is the Microsoft online platform is not able to manage in real time and at low cost such amount of data. Microsoft put on market a product which will get its maturity when the internet speed will be double or 10 times bigger. It is just not working on actual connections.

Anyone can have fun with Windows Live System but no business can use it in production at the same price or less with what Google or Apple offer.

Even in the Skype acquisition Bill mentioned that “…IN THE FUTURE WHEN THE SPEED WILL BE HIGHER…”.

Google is built on *nix platform like Apple is and from what I lived and experienced until now, windows based system will never get the performance of *nix (Unix/Linux).

This equation may tell that Microsoft accept the fact that its Messenger (Live) is a failure, a give up. It was never used as Skype is. Just curiosity: Skype or MS Messenger in the rubbish bin.

Rumours I heard a couple of months ago: Microsoft and Skype were not exactly opponents.
