Local activation permission – SBS server

Error – system log:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{registry – string of characters}

You may see this error – more than once – when working with your Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS).

How to fix it:

1)Run regedit

Search for your registry – string of characters

Once find it read in the right what app belongs to. Usually is : IIS WAMREG admin service

2) Go to :

- Start–>Administrative Tools–>Component Services,

Expand Component Services-> Computers-> My Computer-> DCOM Config and scroll down and find the application (IIS WAMREG in this case).

Right-Click–>Properties and select the Security tab. Go to the first block Launch and Activation Permissions – ensure that the Customize radio button is selected, and click Edit.

Add your service account – giving it launch and activate. Give remote launch / activate permission anyway take care).

3) Restart IIS.
