Browsing the Net on iPad2 and Motorola XOOM

There are still issues about what coding is running properly on desktops/laptops vs smart devices (tablets).

It is not about JavaScript only but about css as well. At this point of time there is not total compatibility between browsers for mobile devices and laptop/desktops.

We use both devices: android based (Motorola XOOM dual core) and iPad 2. Anyway there is an issue of time when browsers for tablets will be very close browsers used on laptops / desktop. For phones may take longer.

Animation:

Everybody know that “flash animation” is not working on iPad and it is not running in Firefox on Android. It is running on Android native browser but the batery is going flat very fast if you will browse longer adobe flash based websites.

Apps stability (install and update):

It is obvious that Android is still a immature OS. It is jus the felling you have when you just use any of these devices. Apple apps are more likely to be installed an updated faster. Many times it happened an installation process from Android market to take me hours or just do not happen at all (waiting for downloading… – broadband high speed)

Navigation:

The same, Apple is ahead any android device. Anytime I take the motorola in my head I feel that I need a mouse and a second monitor to connect to it. Ot is like a normal computer and it has the behaviour of a normal laptop except ether is no cover and mouse&keyboard. I say may android base tablets with us pros and my thinking is … there are just small and primitive laptops. The display is very high quality and it has bright colours but there small icons and not comfortable at all to us it.

Photo and Movie Quality

Apple is just a toy. Do not try to use his camera except you have no other choice. The android driven one, the “Moto’s” camera is just beautiful for a tablet.

Very personal summary: Android need still a few more years to make the user to tell himself “that I was really missed until now when I have it”. Apple has many “bad points” but I must recon that the iPad is just amazing, I have nothing to complain except his camera which is BAD.
