Not many years ago to choose your mobile was more or less an issue of size/colour/brand/money.
Now if you own a business, before buying a mobile it will be good to consider initially two main aspects:
- What platform are you using in your company; are you using Apple, Microsoft or Linux?
- What is your email system; are you using Microsoft Exchange, Apple mail, Me platform, Google Platform, webmail from your hosting company or Telstra, Optus… etc
It is very important to choose proper phone with proper operating system in order to be able to access your (company) resources as fast, secure and on reliable connections as possible and installing as less plug-in/connectors as possible.
To keep it simple I will give three example (ideal scenario alphabetical ordered) :
1) Apple
- You must get your emails and you must be able to answer to your emails in real time.
- You are using an Apple Mail server and/or (Apple) “Me” platform
- Your company is based on Apple OS
Buy an phone/tablet based on Apple mobile device (iphone/ipad/airMac)
2) Google
- You must get your emails and you must be able to answer to your emails in real time.
- You are using an Google platform (business/Standard)
- Your company is based on Apple/Microsoft/*nix OS – it is not so relevant
Buy an phone/tablet based on “Android”
3) Microsoft
- You must get your emails and you must be able to answer to your emails in real time.
- You are using an Exchange server
- Your company is based on Microsoft OS
Buy an phone/tablet based on “Windows Phone”
Using above data your life will be much easier.
If your are already used with a specific phone then you should know that you will be able to access data cross-platform with no problem. In this case there will be a couple of problems when you will setup for the very first time your phone (email accounts, data-sync, bookmarks).
At the same time please note that all above are valid if you wish to use your phone at its fully capacity.
If you just collect emails and brose the net to buy or to check prices, then do not worry about and buy your phone based on any criteria.
There will be soon more articles, more technical which will try to help you to use properly your mobile device.
